Presentation

NESS is a 4.8 kg 3U CubeSat dedicated to technological demonstration and positioned at an altitude of 564 km. It has validated miniaturized technologies in orbit, designed to detect and locate interfering transmitters, i.e. intentional or unintentional jamming (particularly GPS). Part of its construction is based on off-the-shelf consumer components not normally intended for the space industry.
NESS carries Safran’s SPECTROLITE instrument, which measures L-band (1 to 2 GHz) and S-band (2 to 4 GHz) signals. These frequencies are used for a variety of purposes: space communications, military (radar, telecommunications, air surveillance), civil (digital radio, LTE mobile networks) and dual-use (geo-positioning using GNSS systems).

Solutions offered

Quick development from scratch

Through this project, U-Space, still then a nascent company, demonstrated the expertise it could deploy and agility it could bring to the space sector

Low cost

Using off-the-shelf equipment, quick processes and leveraging the local ecosystem, the proposed solution was as cost effective as can be.

Working Hand in Hand

Although U-Space’s first mission, we demonstrated our expertise working hand in hand with the French Space Agency (CNES) respecting their strict standards
