Job description

As part of its nanosatellite development projects, U-Space is recruiting an Avionics Engineer. Within the technical directorate, you will be integrated in the Avionics department. You will participate in the implementation of existing avionics within projects as well as in the development of the company’s next generation of avionics for nanosatellites.

 

Your activities will be as follows:

  • You will be responsible for avionics subsystems specification, definition and design : functions, performances, interfaces, environnement (mechanical, thermal, radiation, EMC), lifetime, grounding.
  • You will be responsible for the Verification & Validation process definition and  implementation including qualification : review, analyses, tests.
  • You will contribute to the nanosatellites avionics architectures definition & implementation within projects;
  • You will contribute to the technical follow-up of the suppliers;
  • You will develop test setup and ground support equipment.

You will be responsible for the organization of your activities to carry out the entrusted missions. 

This position is eligible for the Secret Spécial France.

 

 

Professional experience

A first experience of space, ideally between 0 and 3 years of space electronics development experience, even an internship.

Profile and skills

You have the following training and skills

  • engineering school or university, Bac +5
  • skills in script-oriented languages (Bash, Python) for testing, 
  • ability to test and document developments,
  • rigor in the development and respect of quality standards,
  • autonomy, innovation and creativity.

Additional points if:

  • You are enthusiastic or you’ve already worked in the field of space systems engineering, whether its in design or in development.

    Job description

    As part of its nanosatellite development projects, U-Space is recruiting a Technical Lead Buyer. You will interact directly with U-Space’s executive management to participate in the supplier’s selection, negotiation, and monitoring.

    This position consists in:

    • Organize the “make or buy” strategy/trade-off in collaboration with the product team & the technical leaders,
    • Define & implement the procurement strategy/policy for all U-Space equipments in agreement with the projects obligations and U-Space road map,
    • Set-up & define U-Space Procurement Processes Build the U-Space procurement applicable documents, such as Contractual Terms & Conditions, General Statement Of Work, etc… with the support of legal external consultants,
    • Maintain the survey of the potential suppliers and refresh regularly the alternate suppliers list. Identify potential new technologies through technical survey & contribute to the road map definition with the technical leaders & the technical direction.
    • Prepare and manage RFIs (Request For Information) and RFPs (Request For Proposals), and organize the formal Tender Evaluation Board (TEB)
    • Drive suppliers negotiations and prepare recommendation to project managers and U-Space top management
    • Establish and maintain a cost database of all suppliers.
    Professional experience

    At least 5 years experience in space activities including experience with suppliers and sub-contract negotiation management.

    Job description

    U-Space is recruiting a Radiofrequency & Telecom engineer as part of its ongoing and future nanosatellite projects. Upon joining the technical team, you will work on the development of nanosatellites for various customers (government and commercial). Those projects usually start in phase B and end with the in-orbit delivery of the satellite system. Radiofrequency & Telecommunications embraces following technologies/equipment : Software Defined Radio, RF transceiver, antennas, GNSS receiver, RF front-end.

    Your activities will include the following:

    • Responsible for RF & Telecom subsystems definition : architecture, functions, performances, interfaces and CONOPS;
    • Responsible for specifications, trade-offs, analysis, budgets, V&V (Verification & Validation) including qualification for RF & Telecom subsystems;
    • Responsible for U-Space ITU frequency fillings supporting regulatory and interference analyses;
    • You will perform communication system modeling & simulation;
    • Decision-maker for an optimal technical design integrating the cost dimension re-using as far as possible product building blocks;
    • Decision-aid in the Assembly, Integration & Tests (AIT) definition of RF subsystems with the AIT responsible;
    • Involvement in the selection of suppliers and then ensure technical follow-up of their activities;
    • Support commissioning of new spacecraft and ground segment;
    • Technological monitoring and be proactive in RF and telecom areas.

    More generally, you will also provide support for preliminary studies / calls for tender.

        Job description

        This position consists in:

        A satellite simulator is used to test the functionality of a satellite before it is launched into space. It simulates the environmental conditions of space, such as radiation, extreme temperatures, and rotational motion, as well as the interactions between the satellite and control center and communication systems on Earth. Engineers use the results to optimize the satellite’s performance before launch, avoid errors and operating problems, and reduce costs.

        It is therefore an essential support for the development of flight software, and is used for the development of operational procedures as well as for the training of satellite operators.

        As a member of the U-Space technical department and the ground systems department, you will participate in the development of the satellite simulation infrastructure:

        • Development of new features
        • Collection of users feedback
        • Design and development of new scenarios for future missions

        You will also participate in the implementation of this simulator within the projects:

        • Design and implementation of the simulator
        • Provide a visual means of validation for the simulator
        • Support for the validation of the flight software.

        You will be autonomous in your developments. You will implement new features and play a key role in the industrialization of U-Space as a major player in the French NewSpace ecosystem.

            Integrated within the technical direction of U-Space, you will contribute to the development efforts of the GNC group. As such, you will have the opportunity to conduct a bibliographic research and explore the state-of-the-art of the following subjects

              Job description

              Integrated within the technical direction of U-Space, you will contribute to the development of tools in the field of space thermal engineering.

              In order to make the thermal modeling process of our satellites faster and more efficient, we have identified the need to develop intern tools, which will interface and complete existing softwares which are currently used.

              The objective is to develop a new software using Python language, which will make geometry creation more fluid, and make it possible for the user to specify properties to associate with them. In order to to this, the intern will have to :

              • understand the need
              • identify the best way to achieve it
              • validate the software running
              • perfect the ergonomics of the software
              • be force of proposal to integrate new functionalities
              • write a user manual

              The thermal service will be in charge of the intern activities and will give him detailed specifications, defining objectives and needs.

              The technical support will be provided by ground system engineers.

               

              Once developed, the software will be at the heart of our satellite thermal architecture definition process.
